Like all foods of the sea, lobster's aphrodisiac history can be traced back to ancient Greece. Greeks believed their goddess of love, Aphrodite, was born of the sea and that all ocean creatures were her playthings in the games of love. Legend also has it that she was carried to earth on the shell of a scallop. Thanks to this very high profile job of one lowly bivalve, scallops have also enjoyed an aphrodisiac reputation ever since.

Product Preparation

For Pan Seared Scallops
Heat a large saute pan over high heat. While the pan is heating, pat the scallops dry with a heavy, lint-free paper towel and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add the olive oil to the pan; heat until extremely hot and smoking. Add the scallops and cook until beginning to turn golden brown, about 3 minutes.
For Broiled Lobster
Place lobster tails on a baking sheet. With a sharp knife or kitchen shears, carefully cut top side of lobster shells lengthwise. Pull apart shells slightly, and season meat with equal amounts butter, paprika, salt, and white pepper. Broil lobster tails until lightly browned and lobster meat is opaque, about 5 to 10 minutes. Garnish with lemon wedges to serve.
