Weakfish look very much like Trout, and their flavor is somewhat similar. They boast a white, lean and finely textured flesh with a unique and mild taste like Bass, with a bit of a tang.

Weakfish get their name from the fact that that they have weak flesh around the mouth, which easily tears on the hook.
Pan fry whole or filleted Weakfish in a bit of olive oil or butter, with a light dusting of flour if you prefer. Also grill whole Weakfish with a drizzling of olive oil. It also adds great depth of flavor to your favorite chowder recipes.
Weakfish are a strong source of source of Vitamin A, Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorous and Potassium.
